Committing to New Year’s Resolutions – A Better Me

IMG_9902

Every year I know many of us sit down and begin putting together an endless list of New Year’s resolutions, claiming we’re going to follow through for that new year.  I know I have!  Only to find myself ignoring every single item I wrote on the list.

This past year, I skipped writing out my resolutions, and just did my best to commit to three important areas of my life.  Taking it one day at a time and believing.

I began with working out.  Ugh, who likes to work out?! I rather go to the dentist (which I totally hate) than work out. When I first hopped on The Beast, I thought I was going to die!  I could only seriously do 5 minutes on it. But I committed to working out every day, even if it was for only 5 minutes.

As the year ends, I can share with you that I worked it up from 5 minutes, to an hour a day. HURRAAAY!  This is huge for someone like me.  Working out was never important to me, but as I have advanced in age, (a tasteful way of saying, I’m getting old) I’ve realized just how important it is for your health.  Start out slow and take it one day at a time. Don’t be hard on yourself if you skip a day or a week (guilty).  Just begin again and set a goal, you can even reward yourself with….let’s say a new pair of shoes!

My next resolution was becoming a better me.  We live in what can be such a difficult world, with some very cruel people and circumstances.  But one thing I have realized is, you have no control over either of them, but you can surely control how you react to them.  This was a process and it took a lot of relearning, applying, and self discipline.

At the end of the day, you must realize that allowing these situations to take control of your life, will only make you ill, depressed and unfruitful.  Let it go, move on, don’t dwell on it. Remind yourself of all the wonderful things happening in your life, have a clear vision of positivity. Love those that love you back, pray for the ones who don’t, do something good for someone in need and watch your life and circumstances begin to shift towards greatness.

And lastly is Forgiveness.  Oh, this one was a real doozy.  We’re human, it may be difficult to forgive those who have mistreated us and have been unkind. The normal human reaction is to immediately strike back, but let’s be honest this doesn’t help either the situation or us.  How can this possibly edify you?

Unforgiveness will keep you from moving forward, from receiving blessings in your life, from putting your gifts to good use.  It will cause you to be bitter, miserable and lose your vision. Studies have proven that it will make you sick.  Who wants to live like that?

So here began my journey; I began listening to Joyce Meyer and Casey Treat.  For this entire year, I’ve taken time every day, to sit and study their teachings, along with some other great resources.  I have quiet time on a daily basis, just to look at where I’ve been, where I’m at today and where I’m headed.  I’ve learned to let go and let God.  I’ve seen how my life has changed, how I continue to be blessed beyond measure; my health, my energy and my overall attitude towards life and situations has changed our lives completely.

Letting go and forgiving has been one of the best resolutions I made for 2014.  Is every day a piece of cake?  Of course not, there are days that Joyce Meyer is on full blast!   LOL

So if you’re working on your list for 2015, start out small, set a goal, believe in you and the outcome will be life changing.  Come on, It’s time to be a better you!

Wishing you all a wonderful 2015.  Thank you for your love, support and wonderful emails this past year. Expect great things, the best is yet to come.

Love and many Blessings!

I loved reading this, this is exactly where I am in life now. I have realized that forgiveness is more for me than them, I have ruined a lot relationships because of my lack of forgiving. I plan to do better thanks for this. Wishing you nothing but blessings for 2015.
