Finding Ur Cool – New York City Event

Hola Fashionistas.

It’s insane how much work goes into getting your house “summer ready” when you live in a state where it’s freezing cold, about 6 months out of the year.

I’m happy to say that I’m done planting flowers and getting my spaces, summer ready. #happydance over here!

I shared with you in a post, that I was traveling to an event in May.  At the time, I was unable to share what I was participating in.  But now that it’s over, we are allowed to share.

A group of fabulous ladies and myself, were flown to NYC for a day, to participate in the Find Ur Cool Event.  Sponsored by TherapeuticsMD.  They brought us together to discuss a topic that carries along with it a stigma of shame, getting old and your life is over feels; menopause.

It was so much fun, sharing and being real with these ladies.  Especially since we could all relate.  We had ladies of all different ages and every single one of us was dealing with some of the symptoms.  One thing is for sure ladies, at the end of the day, we are all going to be menopausal at one time or another.  We have to remove the stigma and become a shameless voice.

We must educate ourselves and understand what is happening to our bodies. We have to ask questions when we go see our doctors and most importantly, we have to be honest with what we are feeling.

Life is not over girlfriends.  It’s just another part of life we have to go through.  #eyeroll  Whenever I complain to my husband, he always tells me, “well, it sure beats the alternative.”  That snaps me back into reality and makes me realize, that I’m blessed.  At this age my mother was struggling with her breast cancer battle.  One that she ultimately lost.  So yes.  I’m grateful and I’ll deal with the occasional hot flash, weight gain, bloating, etc.  I will Live, Love and Laugh, right through menopause.

Can we talk about these 10 extra pounds that came out of #whoknowswhere?  Yes, it’s menopause.  Oh, the joy!

Along with menopause, come the hot flashes, forgetfulness, mood swings and so many other symptoms.  None of which life prepares you for, but are all so real.

I’ve chosen to embrace this stage of my life and live my life purposeful.

I’m just grateful for health, life and my loved ones.  My faith and love for God, keep me grounded and filled with joy.

Ladies, menopause does not define you!  Embrace it and know that life is not over. It’s actually getting better!  New life experiences, wisdom and confidence.

Here’s to being 54 and menopausal.  🍸
